I'll tell you what I know about it:

It was brought in in the late 70s early 80s and race locally in Southern California under the SCCA I believe - Its title sponsor was Curry House - a Japanese restaurant chain with outlets in and around Los Angeles. From talking to some of the guys involved in SCCA back then (namely the Firehawk series which is basically a previous iteration of what has now become the Speedvision TOuring car series), they do remember having seen the car around on the track.

It was discovered about 18mo ago in the domestic section of an Azusa junkyard and purchased for $1000 or thereabouts. That guy knew what it was which is why he bought it but didn't do anything with it, he towed it to the MSA show in Orange in 2002 and I guess it changed hands since and is now back up for grabs?

It has a very large L28Turbo with all the right kind of plumbing, it hasn't run in YEARS (like at least a decade) but show's no major problems from what I could tell - no interior and no huge spots of rust either....

Like I said if I had the cash I would already have snapped it up...

Too bad it's not a GT-R.. still I wouldn't mind having it!! Certainly would go, and the exterior seems to be in reasonably good nick.

Am I right in saying America never got the C110 cars?

I've attached 2 more images of this car that were probably taken when it was running. Don't ask me how I got them......

i know you said we shouldn't ask where you got the pics... but....

did sam ever get it running when he had it in the past year???

or is this from the MSA '02 show when it got pushed around by hand into position in the back behind their building?

I honestly don't know!! Maybe it was when they pushed it around, but it would be a bitch to get up that entrance!

Seems that way, as it seems strange to take pictures of the car in such a position. I'm guessing that was where they rested it while they had a smoko, then got back to work to make the final big push up the hill.

Sorry I can't help you more than make predictions based solely on my imagination!

I remember seeing the first pic Alfa posted somewhere, either here or was the car listed on Ebay or another site? I remember seeing the Waste Management sign at the side of the driveway.....

As far as finding a 73 610 for a donor car, that sounds good if you can find one... most of the 610's and 710's around here are either race cars themselves, or went to the crusher years ago... :disappoin

If that car really IS a KPGC110 ( ie - a GT-R ) then somebody ought to buy it and sell it back to Japan. Real 110 Gt-R's are commanding higher prices than the C10 series two and four door GT-R's recently.

Does anybody know the VIN number? If it did indeed start life as a GT-R and had a later engine change, then $4,500 is going to be well worth it. The whole thing hinges on the VIN though. If its 'just' a GT ( KGC110 ) then its not going to be worth enough in Japan and would not be worth repatriating.

Its that magic "P" in the VIN prefix that would make the difference - despite the wrong engine and other missing parts.

Even if its not a "P", surely somebody will buy it? It would not need that much to make it streetable / raceable by the looks of it.

Come on somebody, dare to be different!

To tell the truth I've been tempted. Ever since Alfadog annouced his purchase. I always liked the U.S. market 610 coupe, Well, here's it's big brother. And of course without the ugly, giant US market bumpers. I'm a sucker for an "exotic" Datsun. I wanted to buy that 67 CSP-311 Silvia that was for sale in the Bay Area last year, but knew I'd never fit in the dam thing.

If I had the money, I'd have to make a difficult choice between this and the 260 on Ebay right now...

Oh well, don't have the money for either, so I guess it doesn't matter.... Just wish the guy with this 260 would quit listing it when I'm un-employed... He did it last year, and now here it is again....
