Posted August 10, 20159 yr comment_475424 Don't know if this is old hat or not, but I was doing some poking around with my fuse block and discovered that there are holes at the bottom designed to hold spare fuses. Might be different for other years, but mine is a 77. If you look along the bottom edge of the fuse block, there is a row of holes for the spares. Here's a pic showing a couple spares already in the holes and I'm inserting another into a still empty location: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52086-fuse-block-trivia-spare-fuses/ Share on other sites
August 10, 20159 yr comment_475427 My '71 has the spare fuse holes also. Nice touch.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52086-fuse-block-trivia-spare-fuses/#findComment-475427 Share on other sites
August 10, 20159 yr Author comment_475439 I know I've seen pictures or sketches of those spare fuse locations in the past, but I went through all the FSM's and Owner's Manuals I have and I couldn't find them (it?). Do you think you've ever seen mention of those spare locations in any of the documentation? Do they talk about them or show a pic of them in use in your 71 Owner's Manual? I had wanted to post a snippet from the documentation as well when I started this thread, but I just can't find the reference I (think I) had seen before. August 10, 20159 yr comment_475462 Although I've known about the spare fuse spaces since I bought the Z, I've never seen a reference regarding them. I'm familiar only with the '71 240z, but I wonder if other Datsuns of the era had similar fuse storage. Maybe it was just what Nissan did at the time and not noteworthy.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52086-fuse-block-trivia-spare-fuses/#findComment-475462 Share on other sites
August 10, 20159 yr comment_475475 My Nissan and Toyota daily drivers as well as my Zs have a place for them and the puller tool. Maybe they thought of them like the ashtrays? August 11, 20159 yr Author comment_475491 I'm sure I saw some pic of spare fuses in those holders somewhere, but I've looked twice now and I just can't find it. Driving me nuts... From hybridz, a guy moved his fusible links inside the car. August 11, 20159 yr comment_475528 My 73 has the fuse puller. Didn't know it was there or what it was for for about 30 years of ownership. Only found out when a thread appeared on another Z site. Now I have to go look to see if I have the holes for spare fuses. August 11, 20159 yr Author comment_475542 Thanks guys for the info and pics. I gotta see a pic of this fuse puller thing you guys are talking about. Makes me wonder now if I have a spot for that too. Siteunseen, nice card! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52086-fuse-block-trivia-spare-fuses/#findComment-475542 Share on other sites
August 18, 20159 yr comment_475989 The fuse puller is attached to the case for the 240z. I have a new fuse cover with puller (old no longer available MSA model, or was at one time) that I've been meaning to sell.
