1972 240z Restoration Thread

I woke up this morning to find a "like" on a post I made 2 1/2 yrs ago.  What The Heck - why is this guy is trolling old posts???   Then I find this thread and understand your logic (scary thought).  Glad to see you getting underway on your own project.  One year will be a tough timeline.  Body and paint work will be the long lead time item, essential you get the car stripped and into the shop ASAP as that could be a six month effort while you pull together everything else.  I'll send you my build sheet - not because you will duplicate it but it can be a ref. doc for bits you might need to consider.

I'm sure we'll talk some more.  Z'ya in Toronto!

Dan, did you ever get a chrome ring?  I had another good look at our barn storage but no luck.

I have just one for vin 147 but that resto will be 3 down the road so I can send that to you if you still need one.

No I have found one yet, if you only have one please keep it for 147. I appreciate the offer. Jim got most of my spare parts that where left over from my project when i moved so I do not have much to help you with.

Blue - it was a very short rip to the East Coast this year for a wedding. No time on my own. I'm looking forward to seeing you next year. Good luck with the blue Z....hmm, wonder why you picked that colour??  :)

cheers

Wow, those rims/hubcaps brought back some memories. 1975...I needed steel wheels and hubcaps for a set of 4 studded snow tires so I could take my blue '73 Zed to the mountains to go skiing. Yes, I had the ski rack, too. ( The EMPI wheels and Continentals were no match for snow). I go to my local Datsun dealer ...d***'s Datsun and asked how much it would be. The guy took me around back and pointed to a stack of take-off wheels and hubcaps and said, "Take all you want, no charge. We're just glad we don't have to haul them to the dump." Now I wish I had taken them all...I could retire. Oh, wait, I am retired. Sigh.

Cheers, Mike

QUESTIONS:

1. Tires: What are recommended acceptable 72 240z  tires for ZCON stock judging.

2. The driver's side mirror is cracked.  Can the glass be easily changed out?  If not, is there a suitable modern replacement acceptable for ZCON stock judging?

3. Is there a suitable modern seat cover replacement acceptable for ZCON stock judging? If so who is the supplier?

Thanks!
