Wait... Have you put a timing light on it and checked your ignition timing?

 

If your ignition timing is already OK, then there's nothing to be gained (at this time) by dropping the oil pump and changing the distributor drive gear. if your timing is on target, then your timing is on target. Doesn't really matter if that tang is at 11:30 or 12:30.

 

You might want to do something about it after you've got the other bugs worked out, but for right now, if your timing is at the right spot, then adjusting the drive gear won't buy you anything. Won't make any difference.

Well certainly check that before you go dropping the oil pump. If you find it's not where it's supposed to be, just try to adjust it like the manual describes.

 

IF you can't get it adjusted to spec, then you might want to start thinking about changing the drive gear position. But before you do that, come back and let us know.

CO is right, moving the spindle may make things harder for you. If it is set properly then it is not overly important to correct right now. When you reclock the spindle the timing will have to be totally reset of the engine won't start.

 

Look in the FSM under setting timing. The light is hooked to spark plug one and flashes when it fires. Shine the flashing light on the end of the crankshaft. The strobe effect will show when the spark plug fires relative to the timing marks. Set per the manuals instructions.

Ok so got a timing light today and set it to zero if im correct it should hit on zero on the crankshaft mark the pic i posted i have mark were it was showing with the light

Have you looked at the cam sprocket marks?  It'll show retarded or advanced mechanical timing.  Maybe you can move the cam sprocket to the next number and get closer.  Timing chain stretch and guides that are worn causes slack in the chain making it retarded, like me.

The sprocket marks is right on the mark and so is the crankshaft make at 0 but the distributor is not in line

Ok got it all timed correct ever thing is lined up and runes good but only thing is the engine squeeks some times when reving it
