Hi All

I'm in the middle off restoring the grill on the front of my 73 240z. Unfortunately I've lost the nuts off 2 of the 4 vertical rods that hold the grill together. Despite various attempts I've been unable to identify the correct thread to replace the nuts. Any chance someone knows what thread these should be?

I measured M3 on mine. I think the pitch is 0.5mm, it's hard to get a thread pitch gage under there. Have you tried chasing the threads?

Its an ISO 261 standard (coarse) thread M3 x 0.5mm.

You will have trouble finding M3 x235mm bolts. I ended up buying 3mm stainless rod and welding M3.5 nuts, thats a ISO262 size and cut the thread on the other end.

M3 will work, but the M3.5 was easier to tig weld. They can take a little more heat without burning. Not all shops have them and in the states it might be harder to locate.

M3 is spanner size 5.5mm.

M3.5 is spanner size 6mm

Thanks Chas, I've got the original rods with threads intact (pic above) they're a bit scruffy with corrosion, but I was planning on cleaning them up and maybe painting them (though I do want them to look as original as possible). Thanks again for the advice.

Just noticed you are in the uk. I have some spares that are still in good nik. If yours don't clean up pm me, you can have them.
