Posted September 13, 20159 yr comment_477462 All, Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I wanted to get some advice. I pulled a set of bumpers off a Series 1 parts car to replace the bumpers on my own Series 1. The bumpers I pulled off look good, but do have some surface rust on the interior/car facing side. How would you recommend I prep the bumpers prior to putting them on my driver? Thanks! September 13, 20159 yr comment_477465 When I did mine, I used a wire wheel attachment on my power drill to thoroughly clean the inside of the bumpers of any corrosion, then bought the POR15 starter kit & used the cleaner and metal prep, then applied the POR. Tape any holes in the bumper to prevent it getting on the chrome surface. After it dried, I painted over the POR with a gunmetal grey paint.Came out great. September 13, 20159 yr comment_477483 +1 on the process described above - its exactly what the paint shop did for my bumpers. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52359-bumper-preparation/#findComment-477483 Share on other sites

September 14, 20159 yr comment_477525 If you have them re-plated the shop will usually prep and seal the inside surface as well. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52359-bumper-preparation/#findComment-477525 Share on other sites
