Posted March 21, 200322 yr comment_30762 I'm shipping my engine and tranny so I was wondering if anyone knew the weights of either? The engine is a carbureted L28, and the tranny is a 280zx 5 speed. Rough estimates would be alright too, thanks.-David Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5243-engine-and-tranny-weight/ Share on other sites
March 21, 200322 yr comment_30764 According to this post by Royce, he weighed an L-28 and a 4 speed as 600lbs, so add just a bit for a 5 speed, maybe another 20lbs or so...Look at this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3848&highlight=Engine+weight Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5243-engine-and-tranny-weight/#findComment-30764 Share on other sites
March 21, 200322 yr comment_30797 Those accessories MUST add up, that probably includes crating also? My info says a 5 speed is 70-80 pounds, and I can tell you that the F54 2.8L shortblock is 228 pounds, I carried it up 4 flights of stairs myself. It feels like alot more though, mostly because its cumbersome.
