Hello from Portland, OR!

Just bought my second Datsun ! First was a '79 510 i inherited from my dad and I drove throughout high school. Now, twenty some years later, I have bought a 1971 240! I found it on CL in Washington. 907 color. Series 1. Built in 11/70. # 14143. Super stoked ! Only 1 spot of rust throughout the whole car on the rear drivers side QP. Does not run yet. PO put a Clifford intake with a 4 barrel carb on it. I'm going back to stock Hitachi's. They are in a box completely disassembled. Don't quite know what i'm doing, but I have rebuilt 70's motorcycle carbs before. They also removed all the emmissions control stuff. I heard that you don't have to put all that stuff back on ??? Anyway glad to be here !

I've never rebuilt a carburetor before.  Bought ztherapy's rebuild kit that comes with the "Just SUs" video.  watched it a couple of times, rebuilt the carbs and put them on.  Fired right up, after the bowls filled.

Congrats on the purchase!  It's great to see a fellow NW car.  I'm in Seattle now, but, used to be in Albany, OR.  

 

Anyway, Ztherapy is your best resource for SU's over at the Ztherapy Forum -- Bruce should be able to help you out.  If your question isn't about their business and just a general question about SU carbs, you can also check out the Carb Central Forum where there are several articles and posts about this topic.

 

For clubs, you can check out Datsuns NW or Northwest Z.  There are several events in the Oregon/Washington area over the year.  Again, congrats on the purchase and hope to see you at one of the NW events!

Welcome to the group - all the help you'll probably ever need is right here.  That's a great looking car and your description suggests it's solid throughout.  Your co-pilot looks to be the right age to get into some wrenching.  Tell her the first letter of the alphabet is Z and really mess with her day-care folks!

Thx siteunseen ! I just spoke to Bruce and ordered my copy of the Just SU's. Great advice. Hey m in Seattle - I will be seeing you and joining one of these clubs. Which one do you belong to? IS there a PDX chapter ? jfa- we let my son's hair grow a bit, it's ok people confuse him all the time ! Wow- original owner of 15320. That's awesome. I think I bought mine from the original owner. (sort of) The title is dated from 1972 !

How about your other passinger? That is a smiling dog isn't it?

Say, a girl can be of great assistance handing tools and stuff. My Dad was real happy I joined him in the car repairs at an early age.

Nice car. Wish mine was as nice, she is #11904, had 6 miles on her when I got her.
