Posted October 3, 20159 yr comment_478460 Hi Guys, any one know of a place that can repair my gas tank in NJ or Eastern PA? I was told one of the lines inside the tank has some rust. I tried to find another tank but had no luck. Is the only option sending to zcarsource? If you guys know of a place in the NJ/PA I'd really appreciate the info! October 28, 20159 yr comment_479976 I need a source in NJ as well. Preferably north eastern in the Newark area. Did a search and there seems to be about 20 places that do that and radiators./M Edited October 28, 20159 yr by Matthew Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52500-gas-tank-repair-in-nj/#findComment-479976 Share on other sites
November 1, 20159 yr comment_480260 Joeybricks,Have you thought about doing it yourself? I was just reading the thread about POR15 and think I might try it./M Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52500-gas-tank-repair-in-nj/#findComment-480260 Share on other sites
November 1, 20159 yr comment_480261 Look into the tank after you remove it. My 78 was quite rusty and had several metal fuel lines running inside the tank and a can in the center of the tank that had a strainer on the pickup line.  Sloshing POR around inside the tank probably isn't going to fix a hole in the fuel pick line and the sealer might seal the strainer completely.  These considerations made me think it was better to cut the tank in half and fix the potential problems inside before coating the tank. November 1, 20159 yr comment_480265 Fuel injected tanks are more complicated inside than carbureted tanks. I have done them myself. It's really not that hard to do.
