Posted October 14, 20159 yr comment_479114 my 72 zed is in the shop for brake repairs. needs pads, rotors, flex hoses and right front caliper. he can get most parts except rotors and right front flex hose. on ebay the prices are all over the place. i'm thinking black dragon or motorsport. any suggestions? also i'm in canada, is there anywhere here to get these parts. what should i expect to pay for pair of rotors and one flex hose? i really only need one rotor but i think i should get two. is there a right and left rotor? thanx Edited October 14, 20159 yr by zhead240 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52604-brake-parts/ Share on other sites
October 14, 20159 yr comment_479117 I usually get everything from Rock Auto. Google for their 10% discount. I'd replace everything on both sides. It's not that expensive. Rotors are the same for left and right but a 240Z rotor is different from a 280Z rotor. October 14, 20159 yr comment_479118 I'd replace both calipers also. I had a mismatched set and one grabbed before the other. Different seal materials or something. October 14, 20159 yr comment_479122 Rebuilt calipers cost $30 USD here, at OReilly auto. They have rotors also, for $107. Says they'll ship. Looks like shopping at various places will save you the most. Quality is a question though. I had to exchange an OReilly caliper because the piston wouldn't retract enough to get a new pad installed. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/BBR2/9064RGS/01310.oap?year=1972&make=Nissan&model=240Z&vi=5142640&ck=Search_C0062_5142640_2513&pt=C0062&ppt=C0009 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52604-brake-parts/#findComment-479122 Share on other sites
October 14, 20159 yr comment_479123 my 72 zed is in the shop for brake repairs. needs pads, rotors, flex hoses and right front caliper. he can get most parts except rotors and right front flex hose. on ebay the prices are all over the place. i'm thinking black dragon or motorsport. any suggestions? also i'm in canada, is there anywhere here to get these parts. what should i expect to pay for pair of rotors and one flex hose? i really only need one rotor but i think i should get two. is there a right and left rotor? thanx Unless you are in a remote area of Ontario I find that hard to believe. Getting brake rotors and hoses is no problem in BC, and Ontario uses the same National distribution chains. They may have to bring the parts in from Toronto or elsewhere... but that's not a big deal. Edit: Just called my supplier ( B&J Parts ) in Port Coquitlam, BC. Brake hoses are no problem ( BTW, right and left front hoses are the same ). Brake rotors however do seem to be a bit scarce. He did find one in Brampton Ontario at a Uniselect Auto Warehouse. There may be others but he just did a quick search as a favor. I didn't want to tie him up on the phone for too long... Shop around for different Parts suppliers yourself. . Some automotive shops only deal with the Parts jobber that they have an account with an if that one place says they don't have stock then they don't bother looking further. I find that the independent, family owned businesses go the extra step to find parts for you as they want your return business. The big chains like Canadian Tire ( useless for parts other than Universal stuff ) and Napa etc often pay minimum wage and the quality of service reflects that. You pay peanuts... you get Monkeys. October 14, 20159 yr comment_479124 Rock Auto is also an excellent option as others have mentioned, particularly if you live close to the Border. I have a drop box address in the US and have everything shipped there. Much cheaper freight charges and no Brokerage fees. October 14, 20159 yr comment_479125 First hit on Google for online parts. Lots more out there. Just an example of what a few minutes searching turns up. They don't look outside their own little world and wouldn't check an Independent supply chain like Altrom or WorldPac ( Another HUGE Canadian auto parts supplier ) supplier . October 15, 20159 yr comment_479154 Over the 38 years of ownership, all of the hoses have been changed out with OEM and after market several times. It is interesting to note that all the hoses & fittings are the same, it is just the length that makes them having different part numbers. The rear hoses are 260mm long, the clutch hose is 250mm long, and the front hoses are 240mm long. That is about 3/4 of an inch difference, so in theory can be used on any of three places. Have one hanging as a spare, just in case. Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52604-brake-parts/#findComment-479154 Share on other sites
