brake options for small wheels.

Recommended Posts

I know everyone has there take on what looks good to them, but every time I see a Z with small fat wheels it just looks right, as soon as the rim gets big and the tires go lower profile it just looks wrong. Now this limits brake options (or at least nice big modern rotors)

Do you guys have recommendations for modern brake kits that can put discs on all 4 corners but still fit in a 15" wheel? (might be able to go to 16)

I'm not taking this thing racing regularly, maybe the odd track day, but am trying to be a restomod type car where I put more modern components in my build (suspension/brakes)

Look at what vintage racers do for some guidance. I think it's the vented front rotor with Toy 4x4 calipers that they're allowed to use. Rear is some combo of ZX parts IIRC. Fits fine under 14s or 15s.

I've got 12.2" WIlwoods under 15s, but they're steel rims. You can fit them under a few aluminum wheels, but you'd have to be really careful about fitment.

Hi

I have the Arizona Z Willwood kit with 6 pots and 13 inch rotors on the front and Silvermine rear disc kit on the rear with an under-hood adjustable bias valve.

I have 15x7 Konig Rewinds and they just fit over the brakes. On the rear I had to use a spacer and longer studs to clear the calipers.

I regularly use my Z on the track and can out brake many modern cars such as STI Suburus.
