Removal of Defrost Vents from Dashboard

THe shop that installed the Vintage Air Gen II mini evaporator kit and Sanden 508 Compressor removed these Defrost Vents from my Dash! Was this really necessary? Were these Defrost Vent Duct connected internally to the heater box and fasten to the dashboard top? Any problem on having left these vents out of the dash??? Please note the heater box was removed so the evaporator could fit.

Do you need a defroster? If not then I guess I wouldn't worry about it. The vents screw to the bottom of the dash. The duct runs from the heater box to the vents. I'm surprised that they didn't use the defroster vents. You should probably talk to your installer about your concerns.

I'm sure you don't get too much frost on the windshield in Panama, but the vents might be handy for removing condensation from the inside surface of the glass if that's ever an issue for you.  Curious that they were removed.

The VintageAir kit comes with new defrost vents. They may have replaced the OEM with new. I would suggest you select defrost mode and turn the fan up to its highest speed. If the new vents are installed, you should be able to feel air blowing on to the windshield.

You need to have a working windscreen defogging system for days with high humidity or rain.  The defroster hoses  connect to outlets at the lower part of the heater system, just above the transmission tunnel, behind the radio.  Maybe your new   blower didn't have outlets for the defogger.
