jfa.series1 Posted November 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2015 Two items I don't see in your list: the side glass outer seal, often called the "squeegee" - it is attached to a chrome strip at the top of the door panel. Also, a small seal at the back of the door where the window frame meets the door. Check the BD site and you can probably identify these two items. The side glass seal is often sold attached to replacement chrome strips. The problem is the new chrome strip is straight and must be forcibly curved to fit the door - not an easy task and possibly damaging to your paint. I think some others have found the side glass seal available by itself - it can be attached to your chrome strip with small pop-rivets.
jalexquijano Posted November 9, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted November 9, 2015 Are you sure i will only need these two additional seals for both doors asides from the aforementioned contents of the basic resto kit?
CanTechZ Posted November 9, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 9, 2015 These two links should answer your question: http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/body-240z/door-moulding-finish-arm-rest http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/body-240z/body-side-trim-side-window HTHMike
jfa.series1 Posted November 9, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 9, 2015 Are you sure i will only need these two additional seals for both doors asides from the aforementioned contents of the basic resto kit?Am I sure? NO - but you have my best guess at what else you need. Do you have the plastic rivets for the lower door seals and also for the door-to-fender seals? As to professional installation, I doubt that is necessary. The second item is at MSA and BD, you need a Left and Right. MSA offers you choices of Nissan or reproduction. Mine are the repro versions and a perfect fit. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic03a04/34-1105
CanTechZ Posted November 10, 2015 Share #8 Posted November 10, 2015 Which is the other part you specify? I think this is the other seal Jim is referring to: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/46661-upper-corner-door-seal-picture-please/ I believe it's items 9 & 10 here:
CanTechZ Posted November 10, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 10, 2015 You got me looking at the seals in this area on my car and I noticed one other small seal, on the lower forward corner of the quarter windows. When the door is closed it will virtually mate with the small seal on the door just mentioned above. I'm missing the one on the LH side, here's a couple of pictures and a parts book image: MSA has these: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic03a09/34-1014 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic03a09/34-1015 HTH Mike
jalexquijano Posted November 10, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted November 10, 2015 I think it would be better if we just set forward a complete list of the seals for both doors! I thought the Vintage Rubber complete kit contained all but its still missing some additional seals.
