I would think the option would have been ordered by the dealer the way cars are down now and the dealer could have also ordered a loose part for replacement too.

Another question about the leather knob some have observed: What emblem does it have - same 4 speed pattern plastic insert as the wood knob or something else?

Dennis

The emblem on Mine is Red,White and Blue running from top to bottom with 'Datsun' running through the white band .

This is from a 05/72 issue of Car and Driver, wood and leather options on a shift knob but without the shift pattern.  And be sure to check the list prices.

On the topic of shift knobs. My wooden knob is missing it's emblem. Anyone have any idea where to find a replacement? I've searched the internet high and low and can't seem to come up with much. I don't even care if it looks even close to original.

The New Nissan wood shift knob does not match up to the originals very well.  Here is one I bought that is very nice quality and available for 4 & 5-speed.  Might even have the inserts avail separately.
