December 9, 20159 yr comment_482618 That master is fine I just used the same one. Just make sure the push rod is adjusted as the new one needs to be longer. December 9, 20159 yr comment_482621 Longer? Not saying that it happened, but just to be sure. It could be differences in MC's, but it could also be the reaction disc.Check your reaction disc hasn't droped into the booster. Its a rubber cushion on the end of the push rod. Originally glued in place, but over the years it comes loose and fall off when we change MC's.People adjust the rod and wonder why it needed adjustment until they go for a test drive. First time you touch the brakes, brace yourself. Otherwise you could headbutt the steering wheel. Without the reaction disc, they are very touchy. December 9, 20159 yr Author comment_482628 My wife has volunteered to try and dye it. I'm inclined to let her when it gets warmer out, it can't get any worse. December 10, 20159 yr comment_482636 Anyone ever try spraying their faded carpet black with upholstery/carpet paint?PMGI spray dyed my carpets on an old Range Rover. Ended up looking like a dried out dead dog on the side of the road. Even smelled like crap! December 10, 20159 yr comment_482640 My wife has volunteered to try and dye it. I'm inclined to let her when it gets warmer out, it can't get any worse. I did see a place that sold the deck carpet separate as I recall. I will see if I can find it again. December 10, 20159 yr Author comment_482665 So, been learning more about distributor choices. Can you guys speak to the timing curve differences between 240/280/280zx distributors and how they might affect which I select? Can any of them be modified via springs or other methods like other distributors? Furthermore, the major question mark with the ZX dizzys is the condition of the module, and with replacements being expensive and hard to find. What are the options for other modules if an E12-80 is not a possibility? What are the drawbacks/strengths of these other options vs the E12-80 that people always seem to be talking about? It's pretty incredible what you can learn in a short amount of time. I knew practically nothing about setting timing and advance curves last night, and while I still no next to nothing today, it's still miles ahead of where I was. The power of the internet and the contributions of communities members. December 10, 20159 yr comment_482666 I have a spreadsheet on the different distributors I found online. Ill post it up when I'm home or you could google search for it. I decided on the '79 after comparing the data on that. Amazon had one with a new insides module. Very pleased with it. December 10, 20159 yr comment_482674 That is close to being what we considered the "Holy Grail" for Z's back in the 70's. A series 1 red car with black interior. That's an early series 2? Its in fantastic condition, especially for a rust-belt car! December 10, 20159 yr comment_482677 I had my OEM one recurved by www.advanceddistributors.com They made my Z run very well. It was OEM with a custom recurve and a pertronix. Loved it. I think I still have it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/52899-bringing-back-the-redz/?&page=6#findComment-482677 Share on other sites
