Posted March 24, 200321 yr comment_31188 Hello all, this is my first post to this forum,I have the orange (red 110) with white interior, with the car's name "creme sickle" (orange on the outside, white on the inside).Anyways, I am in the market to get all new plastic panels in the rear area. I am aware that white isn't readily available. What are some suggestions? I am thinking of getting all back and have them coated with white paint or white leather, etc, not sure what to do, but I do know I want NEW panels, no used white ones, even in good condition......any suggestions? March 25, 200321 yr Author comment_31302 $375 + 10%? That's quite a bit for plastic, but if it's the only place to get white plastic, I guess it is reasonable. March 25, 200321 yr comment_31311 You could also try Motorsports or V/B but 375 for black is, in my opinion, reasonable. The 10% surcharge to get a color, again very reasonable.Be aware that these are reproductions, and as such will have a deeper grain than the originals. Not bad, but definitely something you want to replace as a SET and not individually.2¢ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5294-plastic-interior-panels/#findComment-31311 Share on other sites
March 27, 200321 yr Author comment_31639 Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.One other thing, any confirmation on the 3 point seat belts from a '73 240z fitting into the stock holes in my early '72 (11/71)...there are retrator holes in the floorpan behind the seats....but I have lap belts...want the 3 point stock belts or reproductions......any info would be welcome! Thanks! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5294-plastic-interior-panels/#findComment-31639 Share on other sites
March 27, 200321 yr comment_31649 If you're not crazy about spending $400, there is another option. If you're going to replace, you're going to be pulling them out anyway, Right? And probably sh it-canning them, Right? Pull a panel out, scrub it with warm soapy water... SCRUB it. Go to a car paint store, and purchase some SEM Vinyl Die and some primer (primer optional, but I recommend). Prime it, Die it, let it dry, step back and evaluate. My bet is that you'll be pulling panels as fast as you can, and heading straight back to the car paint store for more vinyl die. If you like it, you'll be in for MAYBE $50.00 and the time spent prepping/masking. Get the plastic interior rivets from MSA for maybe $6.00. BE CAREFUL pulling some of those panels... 30 year old plastic is Brittle-with-a-captial-"B". If you're not happy with it, then spring for the big bucks! Good luck. (by the way, SEM is the best. There are others, but I highly recommedn SEM) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5294-plastic-interior-panels/#findComment-31649 Share on other sites
March 28, 200321 yr comment_31787 I have 74' 260. I recently resprayed it but I was unhappy with the white int and decided to go black. I had the seats and door trimms retrimmed to original. Seeing the plastics were in reasonable condition hit them with the vinyl paint. Came up looking like new from fact and amazingly does'nt scratch off very easily. Anyway it's the second car I've done it to and seeing they are panels in the rear that don't come into contact with much I think it will be fine for years to come. Definately a good cheap alternative if your plastics are still crack free! March 29, 200321 yr Author comment_31887 That's just it...time has gotten to these panels, and unlike black that I've had in other zs, these 31 year old panels are all in pieces....definitely not worth refurbishing....but i appreciate the feedback! Thanks everyone.
