Moving overseas. Selling my baby.

See my avatar. I will be moving in the next year. Probably November or December. My wife and I have been praying about this for awhile and we are going to be moving to Hong Kong. So while this is both exciting and frightening at the same time, it means selling most of the things I hold dear. Including my Z.

I have had alot of Z's over the years and finally settled down to two. Last year finances forced me to sell my '73. I have been working on the '75 and had no intention of ever selling it. I even evaluated taking it with me but the cost of shipping it and the cost of driving it there proof to be too much. So I have to sell it.

I am the 3rd owner. It has about 81K original. Checking the original pads, this can defiantly be believed. The previous owner took it down to parts and sandblasted and completly repainted it Aztec red. I no longer have the gold wheels. I have Outlaw II style wheels on it. Formuling type 13" steering wheel, full 4-point roll bar. The interior is extremly clean. No rips. '80 5-speed with 2+2 clutch and pressure plate. The front and rear bumpers have been shaved and are flush, which gives it a somewhat of a Bulldog look. '83 turbo hood scoop has been grafted on the hood. Engine very clean. Runs beautiful.

This is my daily driver. It looks and runs so great. I love my car. I get looks all the time and offers for it. But I want a true Z lover to have it. I have literally a truckload of parts (extra 5-speed, electrical parts out the ying-yang) that can go with it. I have it appraised for $10K. For insurance purposes, they would only carry it to $6500 so if anything ever happened I would get that much cash (insurance companies have this stigma on cars that are 30 years old?) So I got the voucher (from Huber in Tulsa, the guys that restore Ferraris and classics, so they definatly understated the value) saying it was worth $6500. Wah. But it was covered.

So I am asking for the same $6500. I know I cannot get what its worth or what I have in it. And I know I cannot buy and built one like it for $6500. No way. But it is definatly worth it and I defiantly do not want to sell.

now you can give all your fellow Z lovers what they need which is a source from japan.

with that alone you could make tons of cash, sorry to hear that you have to sell your car but im happy that your getting what you want in life and moving to somewhere that you want.

good luck with your future endeavors and i hope the move and all else goes well

one thing though, never stop enjoying the ride:classic:

I wish you the best of luck in Hong Kong, a very interesting metropolitan city, I hope it all works out. Keep in touch with the club, we are international afterall and you can easily access all of us from anywhere in the world!

Hope your Z goes to a good home.

All the best.

Glad to hear that you will be going somewhere you really want to go. Sorry to hear that you must sell the Z. It is a beautiful car  . Send some pictures of the trouble spots: rails, pans, rockers, etc... tome . You are asking near my price range. I really did not want to buy outside of NC, but for a club member, I might make an exception because I can verify the history of the car much easier.

It is indeed painful to even consider selling her. I keep going over the possibilities of storing it in a mini storage or something, but that usually is not very good for a car. I'll try to run out with my digital cam since I want photos first and formost for me.

Just posted a dozen pics up in my gallery. Man I look at those photos and I wonder if there was any way I coudl store this car rather than sell her. Of course thats not an option, is it? Damn I wish I could. *sniff*

How long are you going to Hong Kong for? We keep hearing of Z's that spend 10-15 years in a barn and surviving. I think If you prep her right then with a little work when you get back, Hmmm????

I went through the same thing when I got sent to Okinawa for 4 years. I missed my baby and when I got back I wished I still had her.

I guess it all depends on how long your going away for.

Well the Hong Kong SARS thing is being blown a little out of proportion. I was just there in Hong Kong two weeks ago for three weeks and I seem fine. Although three of my coworkers did get sick when I came back. :ermm:

I sold my spare 5-speed and just have a decent 4-speed right now. And two R200 rear ends, alot of heads. Alot of wiring and EFI parts. Actually I have too many parts really.

NOT trying to argue with you, but....

SO, three out of four people got sick, and you say it's being blown out of proportion???
