Mike Posted December 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2015 I found this interesting mod so you can add front speakers without cutting your door panels. Looks like it would work pretty well without modifying the interior of the Z too much. Has anyone tried these yet? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/Classic01a/50-1293
SteveJ Posted December 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 15, 2015 No, I only got them 4 years ago, so I haven't had the time to put them in. Yeah, I need to work less at my job and more on my cars.
zKars Posted December 15, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 15, 2015 I purchased them several years ago now from the designer. They have been contributing to my driving experience ever since. They do not encroach on left foot space, my #12's fit in there just fine.Bit sad it's 240 only, as 260/280's ECU (not 260 duh) and new fancy big fuse box on the right make this mod impractical. grannyknot Posted December 16, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2015 I have had mine in for a couple years now, they work well. I thought I would be kicking the speaker all the time but I haven't scuffed once.Chris
Pop's Z Posted December 16, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 16, 2015 +1 for me, also. I bought them from the builder and installed Rockford/Fosgate speakers to go with my 6X9s in the back and my Sony tweeters in the vent eyeballs. Great sound. Cheers, Mike
Chickenman Posted December 19, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Mike... can you take some pictures of the Tweeters in the eyeball vents? I may have to try that. I have some Polk Audi DB-1001's that I'm trying to figure out a placing for. Edited December 19, 2015 by Chickenman

I have only rear speakers and it really needs something up front.
Chickenman Posted December 19, 2015 Share #10 Posted December 19, 2015 Has anyone ever tried putting 4" Mid-Ranges in the center console? On the sides towards the front? I was thinking of that. With some Dynamat it may work OK. Then 1" Tweeters in the vent eyeballs?
Jeff G 78 Posted December 19, 2015 Share #11 Posted December 19, 2015 I've seen lots of 4" speakers in the front wings of the console and they all looked and sounded cheap. Speakers need a solid surface to mount to and the thin plastic console isn't very stiff.
Chickenman Posted December 19, 2015 Share #12 Posted December 19, 2015 ^ thanks. That's what I was worried about. My door panels are in such good shape, that I just don't want to cut holes in them. And I have a 280Z.... so Kick panels don't fit. Grrrr
