Valuation Question

You can probably buy it for even less since he's open to offers. I bet there's rust in the lower fenders, rockers and/or doglegs. That's most likely why it's painted black down there. It's missing the original engine, trans and diff. It comes with some good parts but I wouldn't pay $7000. You need to see just how rust free it is first. Not having the original engine hurts its value and potential value. I'm not sure what it's worth. I'd strongly consider it for $3500-4000. It really depends on the rust. It's not like he went out of the way to show pics of the floors, inner fenders, battery tray, etc.

Chuck:

I think you're right.  The black on the lower fenders makes me really suspicious.  I also don't like the black engine compartment and the fact that the car looks like it was very recently sprayed.  Every time I look I see more wrong.   I suspect there are a lot of hidden issues.  I've since decided that I'm going to pass.  My original thought was that if it was really rust free and really an early(ish) production car I could get it running with some of my leftover parts and flip it for a few $.

I think in hindsight that it won't be worth the trouble, and since my existing project car is coming along nicely (finally) I'm not going to borrow trouble.

The car is probably 2 hours for me so I'm not going to look at it. If it's close enough for you I think it's worth a look because you never know! I was interested in it for myself until I saw that the engine was gone. Then I thought about flipping it but with the black paint and other work needing to be done to get it running again I decided that the price was way too high for me.
