The exhaust re-do a week or so ago kicked my pansy a**. It has at least motivated me to get in better shape. I have a weight bench in my den. And hopefully a spotter too. Be safe.
gundee Posted July 8, 2016 Share #170 Posted July 8, 2016 I got the Mikuni's and intake manifold bolted on. I did it as a complete assembly. Almost impossible to get the bottom nuts and washers on. Like you can't even see them. Next time I think I will put the manifold on by itself first. Then I am putting the coolent back in and I have a leak. Where is that coming from? Source was one of the heater hoses. Both are origional from 1972. Completely rotted. Good thing I just bought both new ones from MSA. Start up and tune this weekend if all goes well. Have to break in the new cam regrind and rockers.
TomoHawk Posted July 9, 2016 Share #171 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) I coated the floor last fall, but I'm still considering what to do with the 2x4 walls. Maybe I'll paint them white. I'd like to at least put up some pegboard in places and maybe paint those white. 60-year-old 2x4s aren't that interesting to look at. gundee Posted July 10, 2016 Share #172 Posted July 10, 2016 Fired right up today. Ran it at higher rpm for 15 minutes per cam break in procedeure. I don't think the neighbors were real happy. Its a little louder than it was before. Its a little rich now. Going to drop a fuel jet size tomorrow. Also found and fixed the linkage bind I was having. Now when I let off the gas pedal, it goes instantly to idel position. No more hang up like before. This will be way more fun to drive.

Same for me, I think they're just jealous we do the work ourselves.
Redwing Posted July 10, 2016 Share #174 Posted July 10, 2016 BIG NEWS... I took my sweet RedBird to a car show yesterday. Believe it or not, we won Second Place in Classics. There were only 3 Z's there, 1976 2004, 2012. They were ALL RED! And a pretty painted Nissan truck. Photos following of everything I thought you might like to see. Starting with the First Place Classic winner. Sorry I did not get the year. This car is for sale, I think he had $40,000. or maybe it was $30,000. Then starts "Me and My Z". Enjoy, and please tell me what I need to do to improve our presentation. Remember guys, we BOTH are OLD GIRLS and this is our first show. Site... A couple just for you!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA...

This was a grand experience, I had no idea RedBird would actually win something. I was going to find out about the shows, talk to like minded people, and to share my RB others. Everyone loved her!!! gundee Posted July 11, 2016 Share #179 Posted July 11, 2016 Jai, do you know what wheels are on yours? Centerline made a set that looked like those for the Z. Very lightwieght and very desired by autocrossers years ago.

When I signed in at the show Saturday morning, it asked what club I participated in. Naturally I wrote CLASSIC Z CAR CLUB. Remember, RedBird has been shared by many members, giving their support, giving their time, giving their parts, giving their love. For this , I thank all of you for giving RedBird and I this opportunity to shine!
