Passed a Z on a trailer in SE Michigan today

I was travelling South on I-75 near Toledo today and I spotted a green 280Z on a trailer.  I recognized the Z from a NW Ohio Craigslist ad.  I just wondered if we have a new Z in the state of MI?

Unfortunately the car has to sit outside after it sat in a barn for 10 years. Nice job on spotting it Jeff! I might have to ask you a few questions as I get deeper into the car. So far I've been working my way through the fuel system (new pump, hose, cleaning injectors, ect.) The car now is trying to idle but needs a bit more work to get to get to that point. 

It is indeed a 1977 and I will be sure to look up Blue's tips, thanks for tip.

The car is an automatic, I've been doing my research on making the swap to a short ratio 5 speed. So far finding parts locally has been the real issue.

I have a pedal box that I will donate to the cause.  I swapped an auto for a manual back in 1986 on a '76 280Z.  I did it alone and I finished it in a weekend.  

It's going to be really tricky to work on the car in an apartment complex.  Chances are really good that the fuel tank will need to come out and be cleaned.  Every Z I've had that has sat had a rusty tank.  Here's what the inside of my 260Z tank looked like after it sat for 20 years in an Indiana barn.  I actually got it looking really good after lots of work.

I was driving South on I-75 to Ohio with my wife and I saw your Z on a trailer a few hundred yards away going Northbound.  I called it out and said "I know that car, it was just on Craigslist!"

Those tech tips are helpful especially if you're new to the Zs. Jeffs rusty tank is a very common problem. I've done 2 of my 3 cars so far. One of the best tech tips for me was how and what filter to install right out of the tank, catches the crud before the pump and the front filter plus its cheap insurance. Fram G3 filters are like three bucks. If they get nasty pretty quick you can bet the tanks crudded up. That crud will mess up a fuel pump!

Your car looks alot like mine. Side trim and louvers. Look for a sticker on the radiator support for the color code. Mine's 305. Have fun and be patient with the old girl!
