Posted January 15, 20169 yr comment_484687 I have a small problem with my clutch pedal, and my foot slipping off the pedal while holding it to the floor. My shoes were slightly wet, and I had dried them, but it has happened twice now. I know not to wear my Crocs anymore when driving. But, I want to know if there is a way to enhance the pedal, to make it so it will be less likely to happen? I know this sounds dumb, but it was a real surprise, not to mention might being dangerous. All insights are welcome. Thank you... January 15, 20169 yr comment_484688 Maybe you can expand on that a little more? It would help in figuring out your problem. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53128-clutch-pedal/#findComment-484688 Share on other sites
January 15, 20169 yr Author comment_484690 Sorry Site, I needed to finish the information. It posted before I was done. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53128-clutch-pedal/#findComment-484690 Share on other sites
January 16, 20169 yr comment_484692 We called it "grip tape" in my skateboarding days but now I'll say stair or step non-slip tape. Sandpaper like with sticky adhesive on back. You've seen it at restaurants on their steps. Probably get it at Lowes? That's all I can think of. January 16, 20169 yr comment_484693 Or you could put a couple of zip ties around the rubber and position the square part of the zip tie on the face of the pedal. I did that to hold the worn rubber on my pickups clutch pedal and got that as a surprise result. I can post I picture tomorrow for you to see what I'm talking about. Cheap fix! January 16, 20169 yr comment_484695 The corners wear off and they do get slippery. I don't know who runs zcardepot but he sure is covering the bases on z car needs. Here's some new rubber for a decent price - https://zcardepot.com/interior/pedal-pads/clutch-and-brake-pedal-pad-set-oem-300.html It's a stretch fit. No special tools required. January 16, 20169 yr Author comment_484698 Thank you Site and Zed Head. All good ideas. I think I will go for the zip ties at this time. I am beyond broke, in the red as they say, badly. So that will be the quickest and easiest for now. Maybe later I'll do the others. I do appreciate y'all not poking fun at me. I was concerned when posting my delema. Site, a photo to go by would be nice, thanks for offering! January 16, 20169 yr comment_484705 Sites idea with the grip tape sounds like a good cheap fix. I have a spin off on it. An alternative would be a piece of "emery cloth" and a small tube of glue. Most hardware stores will sell it off the roll. Its an inch wide, about 5 inches long would be enough. Ask them for a suitable glue to glue it to rubber. Use the emery cloth to rough up the rubber so the glue will bond better. Then cut the emery cloth to size and glue it on drit side up. Probably 60 or 80 grit would do the job. I would use emery cloth, not emery paper. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53128-clutch-pedal/#findComment-484705 Share on other sites
