January 23, 20169 yr comment_485207 a stripped chassis is probably 300#-350#, I can pick up one end of the chassis by myself Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53168-rotisserie-advice/?&page=2#findComment-485207 Share on other sites

January 23, 20169 yr Author comment_485225 I guess the weight difference may depend on how much of the Z is rusted away! Based on the total weight of the car I think the bare shell would be more toward the 600-700 pound range, but certainly an interesting question. Never thought my original post would generate so much activity. January 23, 20169 yr comment_485241 Interesting estimates. Patcon, Was it the front or the rear that you could lift? I'm guessing the front. 350 lbs. does sound a bit on the light side. Comparing the two cars I'm working on, one of them would be about 75-100 lbs. lighter than the other due to rust. January 23, 20169 yr comment_485243 You all are probably right, it is probably more but my back is limited to more or less 200#'s I can easily lift the front and I can lift the rear of a 240z although it is fairly heavy, but that is stripped. No harnesses, lines, suspension or panels. The car gets a lot heavier, quick when you start adding the other stuff back on Another way to do it would be to back into the weight 2300# - engine 600#? - tranny 120# - glass 120# - seats 120# - suspension & wheels 650#?? = 690# with the panels still on and lots of misc weight Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53168-rotisserie-advice/?&page=2#findComment-485243 Share on other sites
January 24, 20169 yr comment_485276 I would guesstimate my car at about 600lbs right now. I can lift either end but the front is much easier. From the centre forward I would say about 200lbs and the rear comes in around 400lbs.
