WTB early 1970 Canadian/Euro/JDM intake manifold

I need an early 1970 intake manifold with a balance tube that does not have the bosses for emissions equipment. I would also buy just the balance tube. This balance tube came on some early Canadian cars, and might have come on early Euro and JDM cars also. See the attached photo for what I mean, which is a photo of VIN 003778, which was sold new in Canada.

Any information on where to source one would be welcome.

Not a source for one identical to the original in the photo but--- a very good "modified to look and function like" is available from:

http://www.ztherapy.com/

It is their product number: ZT128

Not inexpensive, but it comes from a reputable CZCC vendor.

Alternately, you might PM contact Jim Karst (aka: zKars) or Chris (aka: grannyknot) on this site as they are Canucks and may be able to assist you in finding an original from the North.

Thanks for the mention Zup, but I don't have one at the moment. I have modified later ones to look like the clean early ones. I love to TIG and grind and polish.

About the only downside is the finish isn't a perfect match to the stock cast aluminum look.

For example, here's one of my early attempts where I got slightly carried away. You might notice a small problem with it...

Looks like the same kind of mistake that I would have made LOL .  It's hard to put metal back on a piece after you've ground it off, isn't it?

Adding metal back is easy, it's just getting it to resemble the shape again!

Afterall, you don't really "need" a PCV valve, do you?

Here's one that I did. Actually, I bought it from a member in our local club who had removed the attachments and welded the holes. It was uneven so I had additional aluminum welded in. I then spent hours grinding, sanding and polishing.

Why do you North Merican's always forget about us Aussies?

We got the euro style balance tube also. None of our 240z's had an air pump or emissions gear either.

A set is for sale here:

M3333hp here. As a Canadian I definitely don't forget about you Aussies. In fact I bought a few things for my car from one of your countrymen recently through contact on a Aussie Z-car club website. As for the listing you linked to, I had never heard of Gumtree, so thanks.

Anyway, if you know of anyone else with some early S1 parts like AM-only radio or even just the faceplate or knobs, a map light bezel, January 1970-dated seatbelts, and other interesting bits please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Pete,

Ah yes as a Canadian you're probably used to the same 'forgetfulness' from your neighbours (spelt with a u) :P.

In terms of the parts you're after AM radio faceplates are available along with the early map light 'hood' at 240zrubberparts.com

I'm looking for another AM Signal Seeker radio also, I've got 2 with the seeker function and 1 JDM unit with no seeker function or antenna switch. But I need a third 1 with seeker function for myself.

Our seat belts won't help you, ADRs (Australian Design Regulations) meant that locally sold 240z's had seat belts from a local seat belt company fitted, despite being of an inferior design (IMHO). Unlike other markets that got a buckle / clip set up, the AUDM cars had a lash-belt that would hook into each other but require tension to remain in place, if you moved around or loosened the belt they would come undone.

I guess that is 1 way of creating manufacturing jobs in your local country in the 70s though. Force car companies to use your local belts.
