First type valve cover with the 2400 on it

I had a 2400 OHC valve cover that I sold on eBay in November of 2014 for $275.00. It will be interesting to see if the seller gets the $325.00. I would assume that the values are going to keep rising on these, as they are getting harder to find.

Several weeks ago I went back and forth with the seller on trying to get the valve cover for around $260.  Given its condition and the price of shipping I felt that was fair.  He declined and I ended up getting a nicer 2400 valve cover for $330 shipped to my door.  The seller was great and the valve cover was packed well.  In my opinion the 2400 valve cover referenced above will be there for awhile unless the price comes down.

Did it come with the elephant cap?

I want to say no, those valve covers came with the OIL cap.  My cars have the OIL cap.  Every photo reference I have shows the OIL cap.

Both my '72s have the elephant, I was just curious about the earlier ones.

It is my understanding that the Elephant oil cap was produced in honor of the East African Rally win.  I am not sure if they were put on cars at the factory, but my 73 had one on it when i bought it in 1977.

Apparently, Nissan branded the oil to commemorate their success in the EAS Rally.
