Posted February 9, 20169 yr comment_486253 These two wires are in the wire bundle that goes to fuse box area. The same bundle that has the big white wire with red stripe- as in pic. I don't see them in any wiring diagram. What could they be for? Thank you. February 9, 20169 yr comment_486255 I'm pretty sure that is the electric fuel pump wires, you can check continuity withe wires that come out of the harness right near the fuel sending unit by the tank. Even though the early cars didn't have electric fuel pumps the wires were put in there anyway. February 10, 20169 yr comment_486277 I took a quick look at the wiring diagram and didn't see exactly those wires, but I'm wondering if that connector with the Green and Black/White was for something for an automatic transmission. Is (or was) the car an auto? Reason I ask is there are two devices at the top center of the wiring diagram... "Kick Down Switch" and "Kick Down Solenoid" that have at least one of the wire colors correct. And as for the large White/Red, I'm thinking that comes from the alternator? February 10, 20169 yr comment_486278 I would tend to agree with Chris' answer. All of the FSM wiring diagrams I have show the BW wire branching off before the fusebox, going through an inline fuse and coming out of the fuse as a green wire. The green wire goes to the fuel pump. February 11, 20169 yr comment_486333 I see the fuel pump wiring you guys are talking about... So you're thinking that what gets plugged into that two position connector is some sort of 20A fuse module? Did they do such a thing on the early models? I have no hands on experience on stuff that early. I was looking at the wires leading to the Kick Down solenoid... One side of that solenoid connects to a wire who's color is inconclusive, but probably G or B/W. It looks like one of those wires that changes colors in a junction somewhere and you don't know which color won the fight. And the wire color on the other side of that solenoid isn't labeled at all, so it could very well be the other color.. Haha! So I'm just fishing for possibilities and the documentation doesn't rule it out. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53265-1271-dash-wiring/#findComment-486333 Share on other sites
February 11, 20169 yr comment_486343 The wiring for the fuel pump is in place. I know Carl Beck has commented on it in the past. There just wasn't a fuel pump in the North American cars, much like we didn't get 5 speeds or AC. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53265-1271-dash-wiring/#findComment-486343 Share on other sites
February 11, 20169 yr Author comment_486367 It's not an automatic. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53265-1271-dash-wiring/#findComment-486367 Share on other sites
