Lets get some emotional discussion going.  With Renault in control of Nissan, could the new Alpine possibly provide the platform for a new Z?

Not a bad theory but i think the mid-engine design would make it not a Z.  Assuming the french company can make it not suck, and the american emissions/safety laws dont destroy the concept it has the potential to be a great car.  It reminds me more of the MR2 and Fiero than anything else, yet its Porsche Cayman dollars.

It needs to be affordable and undercut the price of the alternatives to be successful in North America.  If it carries a Porsche or Corvette price tag, it will lose the "entry level" appeal the Z has always held for sports car enthusiasts.
