timsz Posted February 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2016 I have Daves' H.L. relays. My car is a 12/71. My wires are loose- their not in a harness. I can't see where to put plugs from the relay directions. As in pic, there is three connectors coming from the relay, but there are only two H.L. connectors. Does the other connector coming from the relay connect to the park- turn signal connector on the passenger side of car? Any help please. Thank you. jfa.series1 Posted February 22, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2016 I have Dave's harness on my car, see if this pic helps. The harness is the ribbed one, this is at the right side - two plugs and the ground are visible. I also have his turn signal harness installed and in this pic so don't get confused. The ideal location for the relays is beside the voltage regulator with one of its mounting screws.
timsz Posted February 23, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted February 23, 2016 I see the one connector goes to the right H.L. No, I can't tell where the other one goes ( the one with the ground ring terminal). I see the black casing, but where does that go to? To the park- t/s ? What color are the wires? Thank you very much.
zKars Posted February 23, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) Here we go.... The upgrade Harness has three, 3-terminal connectors and two ground lugs that extend beyond the relays. Going the other way, there is one long lead that goes to the battery via a fuse. The head light connectors have 3 pin male pins with Red (or RY), RB and RW wires on the harness side. The three 3-term connections go as follows. The first pair (together, after the relay just infront of the rad support) splice into the right hand headlight connectors. Disconnect the HL connector and plug in the matching pair from the new harness. On the left, again disconnect the head light connector pair and connect the single remaining 3 pin connector of the new harness into the head light side (female) of the connector pair you just took apart. Abandon the harness side connector. It stays empty on the left side. Pull the two bolts that hold each side of center valance up (the one bolt shown in the above lower left corner in the picture) and put the ground lugs under the bolts and put them back in. Clean the bolts first..... Hope they don't break when you take them out too... Clean all the stock harness and head light connectors while you're at it.
