Posted March 1, 20169 yr comment_487519 Today I found a 1983 280zx that I MUST have! The owner is not mechanically inclined so all work performed on vehicle was done at various shops. Owner has over 24000.00{ yep that was twenty four thousand dollars} in reciepts for all NEW parts and upgrades. I had recently turned him on to someone who had a 1972 240 Z that had been totally restored for 5000.00. He was so impressed and felt he owed me something so he offered me the 1983 for 3500.00.Almost everything on this car is new or rebuilt and even though hes owned car for 14 years... hes actually only driven car fo 6 months because it was in shop alot having new parts installed or upgraded. Anyway I wanted to share the deal with people that would appreciatte what Ive found here. Thanks for listening. In the shop for thirteen and a half years of the fourteen years he owned it? I would probe deeper. As for the $5,000 total restoration on the '72 Z..................is there a zero missing from that figure? May have been 20 years ago also. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53376-deal-of-a-lifetime/#findComment-487584 Share on other sites
March 2, 20169 yr Author comment_487620 To answer all who commented/questioned my find the other day.... The 83 has 87047 miles on odot. so call it 187047. The motor was rebuilt in Feb. of 2008 at approx. 18000 according to owner. I have reciepts verifying date but not mileage of time of rebuild. As for the 72 240z... It was restored in Calif. but Ihave no idea what was paid for resto. I do know this person wanted a vette in Seattle and it was a time sensitive deal and he needed 5000 to finalize. He approached me with the offer and Ihad just bought a 79 zx 2 days before and I just didnt have money so I turned the owner of this 83 onto it and he bought it. Now since I turned him onto such a good deal (Hell-unbelievable deal) he says he would like to do same for me. Ive done close to 1500.00 worth of work on his 240 and worked on his various other vehichles. Hope that answers all. March 2, 20169 yr comment_487630 Sounds like that guy didn't like spending time with his wife, as in he stayed in the shop and she stayed in the house. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53376-deal-of-a-lifetime/#findComment-487630 Share on other sites

I called prev. owner about NAPS intake... not being mech. enabled he wasnt even sure about intake location. I can see that emission junk has been removed...EGR valve air pump etc from car. He was told by a local Nissan mech that the NAPS intake would work fine but wasnt told about emission aspects. Ime going to get her right now and see just what I jumped into. Post more later.
