Posted March 5, 20169 yr comment_487838 If you have some hubs or knock-offs you want to put on your Zed wheels, can you get them engraved? Is there anything special you need to do or a certain kind of place to look for? March 5, 20169 yr comment_487855 Not sure what kind of hubs and knock offs you're talking about, but any local trophy shop should be able to handle your engraving needs. March 6, 20169 yr Author comment_487878 I suppose they would need some kind of graphic to use as a pattern? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53408-engraving-hub-capsknock-offs/#findComment-487878 Share on other sites
March 6, 20169 yr comment_487880 A good engraving shop can scan a graphic, resize as needed, and then engrave it on metal. Shouldn't be too big a deal for a good shop. March 6, 20169 yr Author comment_487881 Do you know exactly what would be needed, like a DXF or a 2-colour line drawing? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53408-engraving-hub-capsknock-offs/#findComment-487881 Share on other sites
March 6, 20169 yr comment_487887 Find a shop and ask what they need. When I've had it done, the shop I used only needed a line drawing that was then scanned and the engraving machine did the rest.. March 6, 20169 yr Author comment_487935 Thanks, I will look into it. I think I will cut a disk of aluminium and see how it works out. March 21, 20178 yr Author comment_515980 I contacted all the trophy shops in my area, and they cannot engrave on something like a wheel nut/spinner. They can only engrave on something flat with a maximum diameter of about 4 inches. Plus, I would have to first remove the chrome, then engrave, then re-chrome the part, and it would look bad. From what I know, the nuts were stamped with the logo before being plated. March 21, 20178 yr comment_515996 You might have to find a machine shop with a CNC mill but the price just tripled. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53408-engraving-hub-capsknock-offs/#findComment-515996 Share on other sites
March 24, 20178 yr Author comment_516213 Maybe I'll get one of those plastic center cap inserts, sand it off the clips and a bit more, and GOOP it on instead of engraving.
