Should I replace the dash

I have my cracked dash out while I replace my heater core.  In my basement I have an uncracked dash.  The problem is that my garage is not insulated or heated so I'm a little concerned about wrecking the good dash.  Please let me know what you think.  On a side note I found some interesting repairs done prior to my getting the car 18 years ago,

Yea but it lasted 18 years. I should have done mine in galvanized!

 

I thought i was being proactive by replacing the 2 ancient braided hoses that are up under the dash with the aftermarket rubber ones. POP in just a couple years.

Why not spend a couple hundred and buy some insulation for the garage?  Really cold temps are not good for the rest of the car including the dashboard.

I have thought about insulating the garage.  It is a pretty sad affair though.  Built in 1927 for a Model T, hanging insulation would result in the loss of all the between stud space I use for hanging tools:(  On a different note I'm bummed to hear your rubber hoses failed so fast... thats what I bought from MSA.

I think sitting in the sun with the windows closed,and UV light do more harm than being cold. One of my first ventures in the 70's was to bring rust free cars from Tucson. to Michigan, and take unbaked interiors, and sand free engines from Michigan to Tucson. Besides it's a 40+ year old  Zcar dash might as well use it, it's going to crack sooner or later, if you use it or not.

That's where i got the hoses from that popped. I'm not blaming them I blame myself for using rubber hose. It just didn't hold up and its in a place thats difficult to replace it. 

It may have been defective from the start. I will never know. I used the original clamps that don't cut into the hose like the irrigation clamps.

Has anyone had good luck with that silicone hose? Looking at the the prices of the braided hose OUCH.
