Under the rocker

Recommended Posts

Hooking it to the brake booster would mean that you are applying manifold vacuum to the engine breather, which is too much suction (you actually wind up sucking oil out of the engine).

This approach will work if you fit a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve in that line.

The L series engine uses ambient pressure at the top of the rocker cover at the gas recirc elbow , it is the lower PCV hose from the crank case to the inlet side of the manifold that uses the vacume flow. the normal elbow hose goes to the airfilter box to provide a filtered air supply to the rocker cover/engine internals.

with this elbo open to atmosphere it reverse flows when the throttle plates close off and the PCV closes off holes or bad seals in the fire wall will pass the gas inside. For me I would have a full PCV system doing positive gas recirc fitted throught the filters.
