Ever come to the realization that everything you think is actually wrong and only encouraged by what they want you to think?

Think about it.

I will be the first to admit that my assumptions have been wrong. Most of them are created by watching the news, listening to radio, and watching movies.

Now, I try not to assume anything until I study the topic.

I wouldn't be surprised if John Denver and Mr. Rogers used to be into that kind of thing.

It's the NORMAL people I don't trust.

Point? Wear 'who you are' on your sleeve for everyone to see!

I think he was a fairly good pilot; perhaps a little too enthusiastic. He made a stupid mistake. I suspect some of us have done similar things with our cars. You're so excited about taking it for a test drive after getting it running good that you forgot to remove all of the tools from under the hood, etc.

The only good pilots are the ones who survive to die of natural causes. Flying is a VERY unforgiving activity. Making simple mistakes that result in fatalities is not the mark of a "good pilot". Running out of fuel is a stupid mistake, even if the pilot in question is a drunk!

Speaking as an experienced pilot, I can say that that John was a good pilot. He unfortunately made a series of dumb mistakes on a new-to-him aircraft. See also JFK Jr.

I bought the story on Mr. Rogers, 'cause I know a guy who is very "Mr. Rogers like" but used to be a gunner in a Puff C-130 in Viet Nam....

Yeah I have SO much resentment for the military and it's monuments of inefficiency that I didn't believe half of what they said whilke I was there. Pee Wee and Carey yes b/c I had heard something on them b4....Rogers was if'y but it sounded like it fit....i wont try to believe one of the other til i see proof of a DD214. Anyway, yeah I'm still on the hunt for a '72 240z/L28 hybrid 5-speed.

And btw, radio is the only media that does not lie (remember "War of the Worlds"?) :alien:

Well, we will have to agree to disagree on John Denver. The only report card that ultimately counts is the one earned when you land safely. Every time. Anything less is considered as failure to the pilots that I know

Well, accidents do happen. I can assume from your name "BambiKiller" that you have also had an accident that caused a death :-) Everyone has them, just hope all live through them and learn. I guess if everything less than a perfectly safe drive is also considered a failure, then we can criticize you poor driving skills? Maybe you can cut John a little slack....

Personally, I think flying has a larger safety margin than driving. Everything is separated by miles instead of feet and there is very little traffic. As long as you respect the limits, things usually work out as planned. I've had 3 engine failures in 30 years from various mechanical reasons but never lost my plane. Sometimes luck makes the difference.
