well, after a long time the zoom project car (1jz-gte engine) is on its way to me, on a very long boat trip!

I'm sure there will be some more fun to come when it arrives getting registered and through customs etc though!

Have a look at my gallery for some recent pics, the car now produces 200kw at the wheels @ 11psi (on an aussie dyno), which can be set up to about 14-15 psi. Should be fun!!

if anyone has any questions about the car let me know, I've tried my hardest to find out as much as I can.

thanks to doco for giving me the contact!

cheers all.

Phil,

you are one hell of a lucky bugger :classic: .

You will have loads of fun in this car I'm sure.

Are you going to have it changed to RHD?

If you're ever in London, give me a shout, I'd love to see her and chat about Z's over a beer.

Best of luck on the boat journey... Whats the estimated time of arrival? You picking up from Felixstowe?

Nice to have such a modded Z in England. :)

What??? You're stealing our Z's! Go away!!!ROFL ROFL

Congrats on your buy, from the pics it seems like a verrrry nice piece of kit. Have you seen it in person? A bit risky if you haven't, don't you think?

well yes - I know its a bit risky... but then buying a car in general is always so in my opinion.. It's very difficult to tell if anything has been carefully hidden, as I have found from previous experience! I just have to keep my fingers crossed to some extent

At least with this car I've had excellent photographic history, and a good history of the mechanical work, which has all been done by reputable shops. If you want to check it out have a look at

http://www.blkmgk.com

and look up the full 8 articles!

Unfortunately all the zoom mags have been sold out for a while so if anyone knows where I might be able to get hold of them it would be MUCH appreciated.

on a different note I think it is a bit of a sad fact that here in the UK virtually no-one is willing to do such work to the cars, like they do in oz. A lot of people seem to be hung up on if a car is modified it must be a super samuri, or somehow its worth less. In fact the car shows used to (do they still?) have a super samuri category, but not a modified category!?! Also anything out of the ordinary such as Jap spec cars, unusual engine/brake setups etc. seem to be shunned and derided! :dead:

phew! (getting off soapbox)

thanks all,

phil

Hi All,

Phil, well done and congratulations on your purchase! The previous owner, Ben Ellis is very much a zed car nut also.

I have all of the Zoom magazines here amongst all the rest of stuff in my study. Let me know if you need copies of the articles and I may be able to sort something out for you.

Thanks Cuong,

Ben has been really great through all the hassles of export, he has also photocopied the series of articles, but thanks for the offer. What would be useful would be issue numbers though, so I could post on a few of the other Australian forums and see if I could get hold of them!

A few things have been changed since the articles, a more drivable ceramic clutch (used to be a 6 puck solid type) has been fitted which I'm quite happy about!

Hi Phil,

I am sure that Ben has lots of experience with importing/exporting cars since he runs "High Performance Imports" car magazine also (about Japanese imported cars)

I will dig up the issue numbers and let you know as soon as I get some free time to look.
