original 240Z for sale

Well I went to the storage facility and took lots of pics. Unfortunately, the rear brakes where locked and there was another car in the way so I couldn't move it out and take better pics.

As I was told from the owner it was bought from Bob Tedd Datsun in Fairfax, Virginia it has been in the area all its life, and in storage all it's life. According to the gentlemen that is storing and watching the car over the past 12 years he says it has hardly ever been in the sunlight, it has a few dings on the side and in the drivers side rear quarter by the tail light and the front bumper but this Z is an absolute time capsule.

Obviously, I was only able to take pics of 3 out of the 4 sides and because it is in a sea-land container, the light was not very good. I took many pics but in it's current location they didn't give the Z do justice, you have to see it in person to believe what a true treasure it is.

The owner put the Z in my hands to make sure it gets a good home. I want to let our Z community know about it first before releasing it on the open market. However, before knowing the owner he almost had it sold to a teenager but the insurance killed the kid so the deal never went through, thank goodness or this Z may have been a loss cause.

I would like to add, please pass the word around the Z car community. I will try and answer your questions to the best of my ability but this car has no history, hidden past other than it is a 30-year-old new car. All original no rust no nothing other than the few dings as listed above. If you’re wondering about the steering column, the ignition was replaced but the plastic was not put back on. I will try and find out why, if someone inquires.

but .......... how do the floorpans look?

Really is a time capsule thing! Didn't realise the air filter is meant to look like that! ROFL

What's that device just next to the radio, sticking out from the console into the driver's well?

I believe that it is the controls for a dealer added air-conditioning system. Wasn't available from the factory in 73, so dealers added systems to cars for buyers that wanted A/C.

Geez, that interior looks fantastic! Not my favorite color vinyl, but WOW reaaly excellent condition!

This Z has 8728 original miles. It has no rust, no nothing. 30-year -old cars or Zs for this matter don't acquire anything in this condition. The interior is not even faded.

I don't know why your ROFLthat black paint on the air cleaner was from a Nissan service campaign Re-jetting and adjustment of the Flat Tops having vapor lock or hesitation, and or stumbling problems. The dealers painted that on there so if it ever returned the mechanics new the work had been performed.

That device is the ARC air conditioning controller. I'm not sure if it was factory or dealer added on a/c.

I was laughing because the orange is so glossy, every filter I've seen to date has been faded and matte!

I wasn't commenting about the floorpans because I expected rust, I wanted to see them to see what they're MEANT to look like! hehe

OMG, somebody please buy this car and keep it away from the teenagers. It needs to be purchased and treated like an antique.

I'm going to send this link to the guys on the email list.

Hey Joe,

Thanks for listing this ad ; I wasn't sure how much longer I could wait before "spreading the gospel" about this car. I sincerely hope it ends up in the "right" hands. It might have been fun to see the reaction it would have generated via ebay. In any case I now have seven of these cars and not a proper storage facility for this car. It would also be fun to imagine it going back home to Japan to live out the rest of its days.:classic:

BTW: The 350Z had a good workout this weekend (went to Tampa w/ Jim--what's another 2k miles?), talk to you later..

It isn't worth even close to $13K. Since it's been sitting all these years, unused, everything in brakes, seals in engine are ruined from drying out, the dings in body will require full repaint. Ignition is trashed.

But then again, "There is s SUCKER born every minute!" - P.T. Barnum
