Posted April 5, 200322 yr comment_32747 i did a search but could not find anything. it is hard to explain. When i open the doors it just feels terrible. it is on a 71. i think it comes from the peice that cotrols the door angle stops. you know when you open the door and you can feel it go thru a couple of notches. everything works but feels bad you know? i am not explaining it right but maybe someone knows what i am talking about. is there something i can replace, or is that the way it is? tks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5487-me-again/ Share on other sites

April 5, 200322 yr comment_32776 Try spraying the whole hinge area with liquid wrench - if that helps - then spray it with white lithium grease 1 week after the liquid wrench.- Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5487-me-again/#findComment-32776 Share on other sites
April 5, 200322 yr Author comment_32792 i tried to put grease on but it still felt the same. since i cant explain it, maybe you could tell me who would have new door hinge kits? April 6, 200322 yr comment_32814 Wipe the grease off and spray it with liquid wrench. Work the door through its stroke a couple dozen times - spray it again - work it some more. If your arm did not fall off yet spray it one more time and go to bed - work the hinge some more tomarrow. If that does not loosen the tightness then replace the hinges.- Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5487-me-again/#findComment-32814 Share on other sites
April 6, 200322 yr Author comment_32818 i dont think it is the hinges. it is the thing in the middle that make s the door stay a certain positions as it opens and closes. April 6, 200322 yr comment_32837 Your talking about the thing that has two notches on it. First notch is to hold the door open halfway and the second notch is to hold the door open all the way? If so what's it doing? Is it pushing against the little wheel? Is the little wheel turning? Does it feel like it's really hard to open the door or does the door open & close without any resistance? How does everything else look? Does the door latch properly and does everything line-up? April 6, 200322 yr Author comment_32908 i am glad someone finaly knows what i am talking about. when it goes over the halfway peninsula, it makes awful clunk and it is way worse on the last peninsula. you can feel its not right too. it is pushing against the wheel. the wheel does not turn. is it supposed to? the door feels okay until you get to the notches. i dont have another datsun to compare to. but i dont think its right. the door lines up, and latches properly. what do you think? April 7, 200322 yr comment_32952 According to the net "LIQUID WRENCH Lubricates, Protects, "it drives the moisture away"." So i can only assume it is their equivelant to WD40 or CRC?Now I have a question, has anyone heard of a molasses tank for cleaning and de-gunking car parts? It was mentioned in passing by an old chap, and it didn't really sink in till i was on the train home, is there another type of molasses as opposed to the stick sugary stuff?
