Posted April 6, 200321 yr comment_32824 I finnally got to start my car after many problems and after it started to warm up it started to make a god awful high pitched ungulating schreeching noise from the rear passanger side of the valve cover. it almost sounded like a loose fan belt. its an early 74 260 and i had just changed the oil not too long ago so its probably not that. it also spead up with the rpm and at idle it does it about 4 times a second. April 7, 200321 yr comment_32996 Kind of hard to tell. Have you had any work done on the engine prior to this? If it does it four times a second it sounds like it might be your cam scraping metal off on the rocker. Your cam oiler might have broken or come loose thus not providing oil to the cam. Pull the valve cover and do an inspection on the cam lobes and rocker pads. Turn the engine by hand and use a flash light to really check it out. Also check for anything that doesn't look like the others.
