You asked for advice.  I suggest starting out with positives in your description.  Not "One of the wheel caps is missing"!

I'd list all of the Series One, early 240Z bona fides first.  That's going to be your type of buyer, probably.  Hit them with the Serial number right off the click.

p.s.  You misspelled Zedd Findings.

You don't get a choice, they ask that you describe everything that is wrong with the car and then they put it up at the top of the page.

I'm surprised BaT would require such a low reserve price.  Considering that this Series 1 (http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-4/) failed to meet reserve at $10k and is in significantly worse shape than yours.  Heck this 77 (http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z/) just went for $5300.  Good luck!

It has not even been 24 hrs yet and it's past my reserve of $15,000 already! WITH A BULLET as they say.

Now that I know the car is going to a new owner, Bat wanted to list with a $13,500.00 reserve and thought it would sell somewhere around $15,000. In their defence, they do sell a lot of Z's on that site and maybe they know their market is a bit saturated. I still think the site is great and they do a good job that helps us all.

Low 4-digit VIN, good color, great pictures, tasteful mods, and ready to enjoy.  That car has everything going for it!  I am not surprised it blew past $15K in less than a day.  When it is all said and done I think the final sale price will be much closer to $23K if not a little more.  If a European buyer gets it the price could very well be much more.  From what I have seen, in order to get $25K - $30K for a 240z, all the small details have to be correct like all the emblems being present, fully restored and detailed engine & suspension, and other things like the original AM radio being present.  Its not say there are other examples that have gone for that kind of money and not met that criteria but for the most part, to get top dollar for a Z or any classic car it must be C&C, Complete and Correct (as much as possible)  Good luck with the sale!

Oh that is the kind of talk I like:wub:

Colour is a funny thing, some people hate the colour I painted that car, can't stand it. I like it so much I may paint the next Z, the ///MZ the same shade.
