Will be removing the complete engine on saturday with the assistance of two mechanics and the lifting chain. Is it recomendable to remove the air box housing with its filter before starting to remove the engine in order to avoid from getting it dented and scratch and to wrap both carbs intakes with plastic to avoid any dirt getting inside of them while the engine bay is being restored and painted?  I think i read in another fórum there is a list of things that needed to be done as draining the fluids, etc. What else needs to be done with the engine once its off the bay?

There's a good bit of tips and suggestions. Search "engine removal".

Not sure how far you want to go when the engines out of the bay. I tinkered with mine for a year before reinstalling it, cleaning and deleting unused stuff.

Don't mean to highjack, but is that an aftermarket shroud on your radiator fan, Siteunseen?

Nope, '79 ZX shroud with a '78 radiator. The coolant runs 175 degrees sitting still.
