Clutch problems

Put new block in lined up the clutch bolted every thing down while the car was off it was still able top roll while in gear checked to see if it was in gear and it was. Steped on the clutch and it made a sound (clunck) then went through the gears as soon as i let the clutch peadel out it was rock hard would not go down after i step on it with a little more presure it made the same noise (clunck) and then clutch fluid starts poring out were the line goes in and the boot that goes around it is tore to hell and now the peadel is sloppy like its not even hooked up does anyone know what this is i need help

I'm trying to interpret what your talking about. From the sounds of it or from what I made of it sounds like the clutch cylinder is gone not sure.

I just replaced my clutch hose but had no problems. I bled it properly not sure if conneting the bleed nipple and clutch hose to the wrong socket would affect anything???

Sorry can't help much further.

But yeah I'm guessing the clunk is from the clutch not engagding properly did you mean that you connected the block and gearbox and clutch etc.. recently???

yes i put new block in but the gear box stayed in the car had know idea that you were supposed to bleed the lines (dumb move) maybe that has something to with it and it is the (slave) thats leaking just learned what thats called from searching the fourms here how do you go about bleeding the lines thanks for the help

Bleeding the clutch is only necessary if you've disconnected the clutch assembly from the gearbox or drained the clutch fluid or have a leak in the system.

However once you have it all working bleeding is quite simple and probably easier with two people. Basically there is two screws at the botton of the clutch assembly that connects to the gearbox.

The bottom one should have a rubber cover on it and it looks like a nipple hence the word bleed nipple.

Once you've got your clutch system ready no leaks, fill the reservoir with clutch fluid then loosen the bleed nipple have a container handy and while a friend gets into the car hold the bucket or container up to the nipple and get your friend to press the clutch pedal quicky and hold it down. You do it fast because this encourages the air to move quicker and come out of the clutch line and of course the aim is to not have any air in the system.

Note this will also send some fluid shooting out and that's why you want to cover the nipple it's probably not good to get it on you and it does irritate your skin a bit I find if you do get it on you.

(Sounds dirty huh?)

:classic:

While your friend is still holding down the clutch tighten the nipple and he can then let go of the pedal. Check the reservoir level and if satisfactory repeat until your friend says it's getting good pressure on the pedal or you can't see any air comming out.

If you can't get a friends help you can connect a hose to the nipple and put a small amount of fluid in the container and leave it on the floor this is like when you suck through a straw and if you put your finger on the end the suction or vacumm will keep the fluid in the straw if you get what I mean.

Anyway I hope that helps not sure if I went into too much non necessay detail but good luck.

Thanks alot that was the prob i did remove the clutch from the gear box and did not bleed when hoked back up there must of been presure in the lines because when i pressed it to the floor(clutch pedal) it tore that boot around the slave all to hell and thats were it was poring out the fluid. Anyway thanks alot for the help do you think that i need a new slave?

Ok reading through the haynes manual I believe that if the slave cylinder boot has been torn and causing the problem then i'd try replacing the boot first. For some reason I don't believe it would be the boot however stopping it from working I'd say the slave cylinder probably has a leak somewhere else and the boot is just to protect it from dust etc...

Examine is closely and if it is leaking try finding a rebuild kit of somesort or else you might have to bite the bullet and get one off Nissan probably expensive.
