71 and 73 240 values

I recently got 2 z cars and I'm looking for some acurate values on both to help me decide which will hold more value after being fully restored. 

Car 1 is an all original 71 240z (minus the added body kit) low rust and complete car. It has bad paint and surface rust. Factory a.c. and factory automatic. 

Car 2 is a 73 240z all original(minus a new head and 4barrel carb swap) absolutely 0 rust. Missing a few small things like the original mirrors, rims and carpet.

 I can't load any pics but both cars have already begun to get the body work cherried out and mechanical is next.   I'm really just not sure what kind of value the 71 Will have due to being the auto. Any help would be awesome on values.

That's a tough guess without pictures. I think I would take the carbs and front bumper off the 71 & put them on the 73. I've only been around one 73 and those are the two things I didn't like. 

Are you wanting to drive one or make money? Sale them both and get what you want.

Thanks for the links. I have built 4 73 240s so my goal is to restore both and drive one to keep and sell the other to fund other builds. Looks like today it's going to let me post a few pics. Red car is the 71 grey is the 73. I will snap a few in progress pics today while I'm working on them.

Some questions:  The '73 appears to have a sunroof.  Planning on closing the roof panel hole during the restoration?  No vents on the '71 rear panels, does it have a vented hatch?   Have you done a magnet test to check for Bondo and fiberglass repairs in rust prone areas?  

All things being equal, and they're not, the '73 seems to have had more adventuresome owners willing to experiment - sun roof, 4BBL carb, no antenna to name a few.  I think I'd keep the '71 even though it's an automatic.

Now first things first I'm not a purist by any means but I know the value of an all original car. I hate the sun roof idea on a z but this one was at least done right. It is a :-(top style removable type and doesn't leak. I the 71 sight unseen as a parts car but after seeing it I would hate to pull apart such a solid car. I have a 5speed already so I'm thinking I will build the grey 73 as a restomod to drive and go back to original on the 71 because it's already pretty decent. So many choices, so little time.....

I don't recall '71 having ventless pillars, thought that was the '70 detail lost in the '71 and later models. If it's actually a '70 and not a '71, I would restore the '70, convert to 5 speed as above mentioned by Dennis and Mark, for drivability reasons. Check the VIN#.

Resto Mod up the '73 to your hearts content.

When you speak of the model year, that is usually the DMV title year.  Many/most states would title the car for the coming year beginning around August.  That suggest that cars with a 08/70 build date and after will be titled as a '71 in most instances.  Nissan decided to change the flow-thru ventilation design beginning in February 1971.  The cars produced thru late January '71 (approx. 20,500 units) had the vent in the rear hatch and a smooth sail panel.  These are the cars commonly referred to as Series 1.

Looking back thru this thread, you have not yet given us the VIN and build dates for either of your cars.
