I've got a couple days in the Orlando, FL area next week.

 

Anybody got suggestions of things that I simply have to do while I'm there? Anything Z related in the area?

Haha! Actually this is my first time in the Orlando area when a trip to one of the major theme parks is NOT on the agenda.

I've got my "map" all made up like the one we used in Memphis. That'll take some time, but there will be time to do other stuff too!

I want to go! Your maps are fun. 8^)

Here's my "map" so far. I put real addresses on it this time to help avoid some of the blind leading the blind issues you and I had last time!  

Winter Garden is a nice walk old town, somehow managed to not get bull dozed. Rent a bike and ride the west orange trail (old train tracks converted to bike paths, DO NOT drive bike on the road with cars).

Canoe ride is fun used to be a place called Katies Landing, they take you up stream, so you can just drift back. Lots of wild life to see, but its HOT so beware.

the Wekiva river is the run to make, very slow pace takes 4-5 hours.

Sky Craft is the local surplus store, all kinds of junk to roam around in right of I-4 and Fairbanks.

Florida really sucks unless you like water sports (ski/fish) esp central florida, hot and humid. Beaches ok if that is your thing but red tide and jellys can be issues.

West coast beaches are nice sand and calm waters, but learn to do the sting ray shuffle. East coast is often stormy and over crowded with folks that really should cover up more than they do (not a pretty scene, if you want that go to Miami), surf can be ruff and dangerous at times.

If you want to see some old cars go to Don Garletts up near Ocala, really cool stuff, but no imports.

Call me when you get into town, stop by and check out my Z. I am right near Universal (don't go to the theme parks, complete waste of money and time).

oh and you could visit the Z junkyard up in Sanford.

There's a cool aviation museum very close to Orlando called the War Bird Museum. Beautiful vintage fighters and you can go up in a open cockpit biplane that's a real treat!

The weather forecast doesn't look too good, so the hard core out-doorsey things are going to be for another trip. Tuesday looks like I may need a canoe just to get out from the hotel to do some sightseeing! I'd love to get to one of the coasts, but I just don't think we're going to have the weather for it.

 

Skycraft on the other hand, looks like the perfect place to spend a rainy Tuesday! 

So tell me a little more about the Z junkyard in Sanford? I found Sanford Auto Salvage (http://sanfordautosalvage.com/), but it doesn't appear to have anything to do with Z cars. I also found what I think is a U-pull yard in Orlando called ABC (https://www.usedautopartsfl.com/), but it looks like more hype than anything. Yard looks small. I'm not sure how well it would go over with my wife anyway... "So dear, why are there greasy rusty car parts in the hotel room?"

Haha! I showed the map to my wife and told here that it was going to be a tough challenge. It works out to about two stops per day. She reminded me "don't forget... it's a rental car". I'm going to do what I can, but if I'm traveling alone, I just might not be able to hit them all.

I only went out there one time, head high weed, rusted out bodies but parts are in a large old house on the property. I had to call him, he came out to meet me, so not sure if there are regular hours. He runs ads in the local craigslist all the time.
