Stanley Posted June 17, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2016 Anybody know a good replacement ? It cracked and fell off. Don't like the idea of water getting in there. I guess I could used one of those rubber vacuum caps and drill a hole in it, but it's hard to drill rubber.
Zup Posted June 17, 2016 Share #2 Posted June 17, 2016 http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/6517164 Not sure this is the part you are after Stanley, but maybe it is. I've been after Steve before trying to get him to reproduce all of the rubber bits for the antenna----there are several. No luck so far, but maybe I'll try him again soon. Stanley Posted June 18, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted June 18, 2016 I gotta spend more time checking that site. Not the part though, the thing that broke off fits tight on the lowest part of the antenna, then it widens at the bottom to fit around the part that the antenna extends from. Not sure what it looks like since I never paid attention to it when it existed. Maybe it's a standard part on various cars.

jalexquijano Posted June 21, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 21, 2016 I also own a 1972 240z and during the process of removing the parts to get it paint, i discovered that it carried a manual antenna? Did this year came with manual or electric antenna? i bought the following electric antenna on eBay and was wondering if it will work or not? Or should i reinstall the manual one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-1970-83-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-Radio-Power-Antenna-12V-NEW-089-/331881979964?fits=Make%3ADatsun|Model%3A240Z&hash=item4d45b5203c:g:SwgAAOxyOlhS-87Q&vxp=mtr Please advise properly! Stanley Posted June 25, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted June 25, 2016 Fixed it, sort of. Cut the end off a rubber vacuum cap with wire cutter, it fit OK, should keep most of the rain and carwash water out. The piece that broke off was plastic, not rubber. siteunseen Posted June 25, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 25, 2016 Looks better than before and I'm sure you don't leave it outside. Those Haradas that are popping up for sale are like $400, WOW.
nix240z Posted June 26, 2016 Share #8 Posted June 26, 2016 I do have something that is very similar to the original. The problem is getting the old one out of the nut and installing the new one with the little star looking insert. Steve

Mark Maras Posted August 2, 2016 Share #10 Posted August 2, 2016 All U.S.A. Zs had power antennas as standard equipment. I'm unsure of the others.
jalexquijano Posted August 3, 2016 Share #11 Posted August 3, 2016 I purchase an aftermarket antenna on EBay to be used with an Aftermarket kenwood radio. Question is: If once the antenna is wired just by turning on the radio the antenna goes up? What if i only want to listen to a CD or USB device, will i still have the antenna up? Is there any way of wiring the antenna so that it only goes up if i decide to hear a radio station?
Mark Maras Posted August 3, 2016 Share #12 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) The original equipment had a separate switch for the antenna. The radio had no control over the antenna. Edited August 3, 2016 by Mark Maras
