chiefmd Posted July 1, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2016 Just picked up a 1973 240z, great shape but I need to fix a few minor issues. The hazard switch shaft and knob have come out of the flasher assembly. Is there anyway to reinstall the shaft or does the complete assembly need to be replaced? I did remove the switch from the dash but no matter how hard I try the shaft will not stay in. There are two flat spots on the shaft which I assume should lock into something. Does anyone have any experience with this. Thanks

zKars Posted July 1, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2016 The shaft does not normally come out of the switch body. Since you have it out, pry open the case tabs and have a look see inside. Chances are you will need a new switch but you never know. I'm not close, but I can send you a switch if you get to that point.

SteveJ Posted July 1, 2016 Share #9 Posted July 1, 2016 Thanks for the offer. Fortunately, I bought a spare 10 or 11 years ago when a Z dismantler in Albuquerque was closing up shop. I was just making sure you were offering a 73 hazard switch since it is unique to that year. I'd hate for you to send a switch to him only to find out that it won't work. Save it for the next person who needs one.
