July 17, 20168 yr comment_498946 If the prices continue to rise the way they have been, I will buy as many as I can find down here. Work on them until I'm not able to anymore then sale. They're a great investment. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55805-retirement/?&page=2#findComment-498946 Share on other sites

Something to remember is that if you don't start collecting at 65/66, your entitlement amount goes up 8% a year for every year you delay until age 70. You kind of have to play the odds if longevity runs in your family. Interestingly, 70 is the last legally significant birthday you have to keep track of (16 for driving, 18 to vote, 21 to drink, 65/66 for SS & Medicare, 70 for maximum SS and mandatory time to start tapping IRA accounts for required minimum distributions if you haven't already.) so mark your calendar, take your chances, and plan your retirement Z budget accordingly. Dennis Actually full SS payments for my age bracket start at age 67. Interesting little known fact: You do have to start taking "Mandatory" distributions from your IRA(s) at age 70 1/2, but if you are still working you do not have to take money out of your 401K. I know people who have increased their 401K contributions by the amount of their mandatory distributions to prevent paying taxes on that money until they actually quit working. (Maybe they think that they will live forever?) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55805-retirement/?&page=2#findComment-498982 Share on other sites
July 17, 20168 yr comment_498989 congrats on the retirement. I did the same a couple of years ago and have no regrets at all. It was quite a drop in yearly income, but with a small pension, a few RRSPs and CPP coming up this year we have made a go of it. Not having to get up to a alarm clock every day has been on of the best parts. Enjoy. Congrats!! Enjoy your time, maybe start a Z hobby building something cool for the cars... Or, just cruise and golf...
