dmorales-bello Posted July 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2016 Finally got around to installing a set of JDM tail lights (thanks HR369) after freshening them up a bit. Also freshened up a calendar clock I obtained from Greg as well and put that in my instrument cluster with a few "details" done to match the instruments.
Mike Posted July 23, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 23, 2016 Nice work on the lights and the gauges! I've never seen that charge LED before, what does it do?
Patcon Posted July 23, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 23, 2016 I love JDM tail lights. They should have all been that way!

Thanks! That charge light is stock on the 77 and 78 Zs. Not sure about all 280s. Lights up to alert charging failure.
sweatybetty Posted July 24, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 24, 2016 (edited) i wonder if the voltage gauge would fit where the amp gauge is in a 72? anyone seen that? Edited July 24, 2016 by sweatybetty
hr369 Posted July 24, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 24, 2016 Good job. I might try clear coating the set on my car.

The current 2 part clears are much more resistant to the elements and UV radiation than the 40 year old plastic lenses so no matter how much you polish them the end result will be much better and durable if you clear coat them. Go for it pal.

You have to join the ends of the ammeter wires together, though. Otherwise your car won't run. Make it a good splice, too, so it doesn't overheat and catch fire in your dash. hr369 Posted July 25, 2016 Share #9 Posted July 25, 2016 Got LED's in those lights? They saved me from a drained battery one time when i went to work and the brake light switch failed and the brake lights stayed on for my entire 8 hour shift. When i came back to the parking lot i thought my battery was drained. It started right up.
dmorales-bello Posted July 25, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted July 25, 2016 Yes, Greg. There are LED replacements in virtually every bulb inside and out, including the headlights. These are the ones I used for the tail lights:
dmorales-bello Posted July 27, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted July 27, 2016 Brought out the speedo and tach to do the same work I did on the center instruments: clean-up, polish lenses, paint needles fluo orange to match. Will reinstall tomorrow.
