Problem installing TechnoVersions differential mount 1971 240Z.

Please refer to the picture below which is not my actual car but best illustrates the issue I have. The view is from the front of the car looking aft down the driveshaft tunnel toward the differential. The problem is that the parking brake assembly equalizer rides right on top of the TechnoVersions differential mount. This has the nut-like protrusion on the equalizer (top red circle) directly in line with the nut on the snubber (bottom red circle) ... so they interfere with each other. In other words, where it shows a space between the red circles, I have zero ... the two hit each other when you try to set or released the brake. Brian at TechnoVersions has not run across this so it is somewhat of a head scratcher for both of us. I do believe this area of my car is all stock. If you've installed this mount and run into this, please let me know if you made it work or went a different route. I did successfully replace the original lower mount as part of this same work trying to eliminate a "clunk".

That picture shows the GM transmission mount, not a snubber.  The GM mount actually has three holes, you can use the two outer ones instead of the center.

If you are using a snubber though, you might have to trim the stud down with a hack saw.  Maximum effect would be to trim the stud down, and use a thin washer, maybe a thin nut also, and some thread locker.  I used a snubber for a short while and pretty sure I trimmed the stud.  Not because it was a problem, it just bugged me.

Yes sir. Below is a picture of what I actually have and you can see where I did cut the stud off flush with the bolt ... but the two systems still interfere with each other. The bottom of the parking brake assembly equalizer is maybe 1/8" above the top surface of the mount ... so even a thin washer and nut wouldn't solve the problem. Now that we know it isn't just me and my car (i.e., operator error), I'm going to shoot some pictures of my actual setup and send them to Brian at TechnoVersions. He's being a real pro about helping me sort this out.

Yes, I did quite a good bit of searching and even contacted TechnoVisions before I posted the question ...  just in case "Tony D"  from zcar.com was creeping on me again.

Thank's for calling on Mr. Zed Head ... just knowing that it wasn't just me or my car but a real issue is a good start.

Is your Z an early Series 1 or transition Z? I had the same problem with my 70 Z. Seems the attachment points on the later model cars are farther back. My solution was I rotated the mount 180 degrees. Can't remember whether I had to drill another hole for the bump stop or not (don't think I did)..The notch for the brake lines will be on the wrong side, but there was no contact with the lines anyway. My Series 2 cars worked fine.....just the early cars.

Here's a couple shots (from the rear). If you look close, you can see the step (brake line step) is now on the left, but the bump stop (still centered over the diff) is back behind the bow of the e brake ....even when pulled. Works perfect, and as I said, no contact with brake lines even though the step is on the wrong side.

BTW, mine had a support bracket that I dremeled off so the drive shaft cleared, but it doesn't look like yours has that buttress. If you expand the pic and look close, you'll see that the part of thebump stop is hanging off the mount. Works perfect. Good luck!

Yeah Zed probably did......if you look close, you'll see that I also cut a notch out of the forward support bracket. If Tomcat's mount has that bracket hanging down like mine, he'll have to notch it for driveshaft  clearance (easy to do). Just wondering now.....if you trimmed a notch in the support bracket wide enough to hang the bump stop off of the back of the bracket, maybe you could drill a hole on the back of the bracket as it stands to hang the bump stop off the back slightly......that might work without flipping it 180 degrees. Just a thought. BTW.....It's a great system.....you'll love it!

Seems like a new hole could be drilled without flipping the mount.

Another, somewhat convoluted option might be to fasten the snubber to a plate via a threaded hole in the plate, then use the two outside holes to fasten the plate to the TV mount.  Clears up the center top of the TV mount.

Just realized that TV didn't supply the outer holes for the GM mount.  I'd prefer two bolts if using the hanging GM mount.

Anyway, lots of drilling, cutting, trimming options.

Yeah we all know what it's like be bullied by the all knowing. LOL

When I read the hybridz info I saw that Zed Head had some expirence with the rt mount so  I "tagged" him for you. We're all friends here and happy to help. :)
