You know, that would be a cool car to restore, esp, if it keeps all the scarab parts. I saw a kit converted scarab car in San Jose one time, was purple coloured, but super beat up, I like the rear fenders too. 

How much do you think it would cost to have it restored if you couldn't to it yourself?

In Texas, probably 30-40k. If you found the perfect guy, 25k..

That car spent a great deal of time in Wisconsin and Minnesota and has a lot of rust.  I think Charles is very close in his estimation cost to restore this car.  At the time of this post, this Scarab is at $9,100.00 with 1 day and 17 hours left on the auction.  My guess is that the car will end up selling for between $11k and $12k. 

The real question is what is a properly restored Scarab worth?

Good question, Charles.  Does anyone know of any sales of correctly restored full turnkey Scarab-built conversions in the last few years?

The Scarab sold a few days ago for $17,000.00!

So is a pristine Scarab worth $50k plus?

I wonder why they decided on a beetle as their namesake/brand image?  Fast doesn't come to mind when I think of a June bug.

 Worse yet, it's a dung beetle. The ancient Egyptians held the Scarab (dung beetle) in very high regard to the point of worship. Don't know and can't imagine why.

Probably because you can get into some "serious dung" with that much power in a little car like that!
