I was sitting at a stoplight a few minutes ago in my 240Z VIN #907 and heard a horn beep, looked over in the right lane and was asked if I wanted to sell the car.  I remembered his car, I had pulled out in traffic just before him and pulled away a little.  He asked if I wanted to sell it and I was reluctant but then asked how much and he offered $8,000.  When I didn't seem interested he offered $11,000.  I told him the car was special I would keep it.  First stoplight auction I have been to.  I have been driving this car in the summer over here on the West cost of California for various errands.  Fun car to own.

Unless your car needs a lot of work, $11k is not even close...

That was my feeling on the car's value.  It is in good condition.  I might have added to the original post, reason for no sale?

Here in the Netherlands were only 240 cars of the 240Z sold..in the '70 .... they were 21000 guilders (At that time one US dollar was about 2 guilders?) !  These days here are a lot of imported California 240z for sale for about 15000 euro's!  Those are worn out wrecks most times!

And yes..it's time to put a good alarmsystem on those 240Z cars if you ask me!

I usually pull a critical part ( or two ) that is not obvious and will disable the car. Had to Park the Z at an Airport Lot on a recent vacation. My other car ( Audi ) was down for a while. Airport Security check had a WTF moment when they saw some mysterious electrical devices in my luggage. Fortunately one of them was a car guy and understood why I had these weird relays and things in my luggage. Took some 'splainin' though!!!

There is an alarm I have seen that lets the car run for a minute after a hijack so it can be easy to recover but can't remember how it works.
