Looking for info about the different styles of lower door hinges on 240Z. Mine was built 2/70 HLS30-01769. It doesn't have the roller & cam style hinge as seen on later Z's. It has no roller to provide a detente action. It has instead two short arms that sandwich the spring arm and limit the door opening travel. Any ideas about when the roller type hinges were introduced? I need to repair or replace. Thanks.

Swampfox,

From your description, I would say that you have the early hinge and those arms can rust badly.  Post some pictures.  I looked but can't seem to find digital images of my hinges.  I may have them on film but the the comments are pretty much correct.  You shouldn't have rollers or detentes.  I would encourage you to repair your hinges.

The early hinges are hard to find. 26th is probably right, repair is probably easier than sourcing one. they can rust badly and when they do the little scissors arms just fold up...

The early 510's from about the same time period may have used the same hinge. A little research may be in order. The hinges on my son's 510 look very similar to the early Z hinges...
